Jason is finally home!!!
I can't begin to explain the feeling I had when I picked Jason up from the hospital to finally take him home. It has been too quiet, too lonely for too long. It was a lengthy discharge since we needed to make sure we fully understood all the meds that he needs to take and the exit process. One of the most important things that we need to remember is the mask that he needs to wear around others. Due to some of the meds, his immune system is very compromised. Some can't understand this because he looks so well but as his mom, , I need to make sure he's protected especially with the swine flu that is going around.
He is so grateful for the gift of life. His energy level is high. His spirits are good. His faith has only increased. Each day is not something to take for granted. It is a gift from God and we need to remember that.
I continue to think about the donor family. What a sacrifice must've been made to release the organs of such a young person to save the life of my son. 20 - 21 years old that was in an accident. That's all we've been able to find out. I pray that God would comfort them in their time of loss. We hope to someday meet them if they allow us. For now, Jason will just have to be content with the fact that he can write them a letter ensuring that it does not include any personal information such as name, address, etc.
I want to thank God for keeping his healing hand upon the life of my son. I want to thank all that have someway helped us during this past year & 1/2 through prayers, meals, visiting us both at home & the hospital. Jason has touched so many lives in so many ways but so many lives have touched us.
